Mitsubishi Flat-Panel TVs with Integrated 16-Speaker Sound Projector

Mitsubishi has just release its own version of, what else, an ultra thin flat panel TV called the Mitsubishi Ultra Thin Frame Premium Flat Panel TV with Integrated Sound Projector. Yes, you read that right. Mitsubishi just upped the ante by putting in Integrated Sound (ISP). It will transform the home entertainment experience with innovative sound technology by offering consumers a built-in home theater TV solution without the added trouble of installing extra speakers or additional wires. Or at least that’s the idea.
Integrated Sound Projector
The integrated sound projector (iSP) reproduces true 5.1 surround sound from a single speaker cabinet attached below the TV screen. The speaker enclosure houses a 16-speaker array that creates a 5.1 channel sound field. Through the use of an advanced algorithm, the iSP delays the sound varying intervals to each of the 16 speakers. As a result, the speaker generates 5.1 distinct sound beams that are focused both directly and indirectly to the listener.*
Other Features
An additional point for the Mitsubishi Ultra thin TV with ISP is that the system can be controlled via a single remote control. Plus, the added focus on its sound system does not subtract from the actual viewing department with 46″ and 52″ panels to choose from.
Reportedly, Mitsubishi Ultra thin TV with ISP does a fairly good job with its integrated sound projector, but it will work better in a small room than a large hall since sound has less distance to travel before it bounces off the walls to create that surround sound effect. In a large hall, the sound would be pretty weak.
The Mitsubishi Ultra Thin Frame Premium Flat Panel TV with Integrated Sound Projector comes in two sizes: 46″ LT-46149 for $3,299 and 52″ LT-52149 for $3,699. Available in July 2008.
