Titanic Watches

Forget the Heart of The Ocean pendant which good ol’ Rose dropped into the ocean in the ending. Think watches made with bits and pieces of the doomed ship.

Swiss jeweler Romain Jerome has created timepieces from parts of the Titanic, thus the name of the collection – Titanic-DNA.

The watches cases are made from the Titanic’s hull and mixed with modern shipbuilding steel. The coal from the ship’s furnaces mixed with ceramics creates the dials or the faces for the watches. The tarnished, old metal and the new steel were blended at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland where the historical ship was built.

The watches hands are inspired by the ship’s anchor and the tiny seconds dial is designed to look like the ship’s pressure gauges on its boilers.

Titanic – DNA Pink Gold-Black

In this model, the case is made of satin-finished pink gold, titanium and blackened steel. The dial is integrated with coal from the ship. The claws are polished pink gold with titanium screws. Small seconds dial at 9 o’clock. It is 46 mm in diameter and can be set with or without trapeze-out diamonds. It was also created using La Joux-Perret watch movement.

Now doesn’t that make you want to say "I want you to paint me wearing this…"?
