Verizon Wireless has officially announced that they will offer the Motorola DROID beginning November 6. Tagged as the first smartphone powered by Android 2.0, the DROID provides 3G-speed Internet with multi-window HTML browser, access to thousands of applications and widgets, and multi-tasking capabilities. It is also the first smartphone to feature Google Maps Navigation, a free turn-by-turn voice-activated GPS application. Simply say where you want to go and let your phone show the way.
Specs include a 3.7-inch high-resolution widescreen display; 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, auto-focus, and image stabilization; 16GB memory card; slide-out QWERTY keyboard; voice-activated Google Search; visual voicemail; and over-the-air Amazon MP3 downloads.
DROID will become available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless online store and retail outlets for US$199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate.
