Sanyo 2010 Dual Camera Xacti HD Camcorder

While every other device seems to become thinner than the last time, it won’t be too long before HD camcorders join in the slim-down bandwagon as Sanyo introduces its "smallest, lightest, and thinnest" HD camcorder to date.

The Sanyo 2010 Dual Camera Xacti, also known as VPC-SH1, measures just 1.69 inches thick and weighs 7.2 ounces.  Users get a 35mm wide-angle effect thanks to its enlarged sensor area, a 3.5-megapixel size while in video mode, which can be expanded to 1,050mm with its 30x zoom.  This makes capturing subjects even from afar.  The camcorder can capture full HD videos with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution on MPEG-4 AVC/ H.264 format, which is easy to use on PC and Internet environments.

It also comes with a "Double Sub REC Button" apart from the regular recording buttons.  These double sub buttons, located on the upper-front part of the camera body, enables users to easily capture photos and video while on a low-angle position.  Sanyo is also working on making the VPC-SH1 compatible with iFrame, a next-gen video format designed to easily import, edit, and share HD video.

Other features include a Sound Zoom function that adapts sound recordings depending on the scene, digital image stabilitzer, Eye-Fi card slot, and SDXC memory card slot.

The Sanyo Xacti VPC-SH1, with choices between Black and Red, will become available in North America by February 2010, costing US$399.99.
