Verizon Wireless and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) service provider Skype have forged a deal to bring Internet-based phone calling to several of Verizon’s 3G BlackBerry and Android phones beginning next month.
The Skype mobile will be available on RIM’s BlackBerry Storm 9530 , Storm2 9550, Curve 8330, 8830 World Edition, and Tour 9630 , as well as on Motorola’s Droid , Eris , and Devour . Customers are required to have a data plan to use this application.
For those who are not yet in the know, Skype is a leading VoIP company that provides unlimited calls to other Skype members using Internet connection. Verizon subscribers can also call international phone numbers and send instant messages, but it comes with a fee.
