CrunchGear just got its hands on the Aluratek Libre eBook Reader Pro. Although it may not be as awesome as the Kindle , its features can hold water: 2GB card with 100 public domain books to get you started, e-paper LCD screen, a battery life up to 24 hours of continuous reading (according to them), and an auto-off feature in case you doze off while leaving the Libre on.
It is compatible with PDF, ePub, and Mobi files aside from standard text files. Plus, its small size and US$149 price tag make it a very valuable device. The problem, however, is that it has a slow lag after pressing a command. Another hassle would be on the availability of e-books because the Kindle store is out of the question.
The Aluratek Libre eBook Reader Pro is now available through authorized dealers.
