Motorola ’s latest device comes in the United States, but not in your usual carriers like AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint. Instead, the Motorola i1 will be available first to subscribers of SouthernLINC, a rural carrier covering Alabama, Georgia, and the western half of the Florida panhandle.
The Motorola i1 is touted as the first “Push To Talk” Android-powered smartphone with Integrated Digital Enhanced Network. Push To Talk is a two-way radio service with WiFi speeds plus loads of multimedia features and applications. This multitasking touchscreen phone is also made to meet military specifications, which means it is protected against dust, shock, vibration, and rain. Physical features include a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video capture, as well as a removable microSD memory card. It also has a music player, stereo Bluetooth, Google mobile services, and Swype.
Expect the Motorola i1 to appear on SouthernLINC dealers starting on the second quarter of 2010.
