RIM, the maker of Blackberry, has filed a patent application that aims to change the design of their popular brand. The application is for a “multi-tap keyboard user interface,” which appears to add auditory feedback as a key is being pressed. It will be served as an aid to visually impaired users.
According to the application, the user will only press a short series of keys in order to turn on the multi-tap interface. The user then will use a pre-designated set of keys for typing numbers and text. The user would be alerted using an audio cue on what number or letter they have typed, as well as be able to choose different menu choices while browsing his e-mail.
Full details of the application can be found here.
