The Samsung S2 portable hard drive, which you probably remember came with a Michael Jackson edition in commemoration to the King of Pop’s “This Is It” documentary, is now updated with a USB 3.0 interface and 7,200RPM spindle speed.
The S2 Portable 3.0 now offers a maximum transfer rate of 5 gigabits per second (Gbps) compared to the 480 megabits per second (Mbps) in the previous USB 2.0 version. It also features a low vibration Dynamic Balancing technology and low noise technologies for added convenience. The portable HDD even comes in a reduced size for a more efficient power consumption and loaded with preloaded software for data back-up, data encryption, and password protection.
The Samsung S2 Portable 3.0 is available in 320GB and 640GB capacities. This external hard disk drive will be available in EU countries within the month. Pricing and availability in the United States have yet to be announced.
