Copia Ditches Hardware E-Book Plans for “Social Reading Platforms”

With stiff competition in the e-book reader category, the not-so-popular ones should think quick on how to survive and flourish in a market dominated by the Kindle. One such company, Copia, have decided to completely abandon its plans for their e-book reader devices and instead repositions itself as an e-book software. Copia now offers apps that can be installed on desktop, iPad, and Windows Phone 7, with Android devices and other touchscreen devices following soon.
One of the highlights of the Copia apps is that it allows Facebook Connect logins, which enables users to utilize the e-book store as an online reading community. Whether such a move would work, we will see, but it is promising to say the least.
