While Samsung is shipping its Series 5 Chromebook, people are wondering when the Acer counterpart would follow suit. Good news: Pre-orders for Acer AC700 are now accepted.
The Chrome OS-powered ultraportable laptop features an Intel Atom N570 dual-core processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory, 16GB SSD, 11.6-inch HD widescreen CineCrystalTM LED-backlit LCD, integrated 1.3MP HD webcam, USB 2.0, HDMI output, Adobe Flash 10.1, and a 4-in-1 card reader. The Acer AC700 boots in less than 10 seconds and has a battery life of up to six hours.
Acer has announced that the AC700 is available “this month” in the United States. There are not too many days left in June or that the press release the company distributed was actually meant for July. Starting price is $349.99, while a 3G version will be coming “this summer.”
