What has been a mystery about the PlayStation Vita–the exact date of its availability in North America–has been solved, although partially.

The website of Best Buy Canada now accepts pre-orders for the next-gen handheld gaming console, indicating that both the WiFi and 3G/ WiFi versions will be available there on March 30, 2012. This further confirms previous announcements by Sony that the device will not be available by the holidays, thus missing the golden opportunity of making the PS Vita the “it” thing to have for Christmas (or Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa).

Still, this does not deter some Sony fans to take this pre-order announcement with a grain of salt and insist on believing that PS Vita will be released before the year ends.

The WiFi-only model is being priced at C$249.99 (about US$254), while the 3G-included model will cost C$299.99 (about US$305).
