For this, the Logitech Tablet Speaker for the iPad would help do the job.

The Logitech Tablet Speaker for the Apple iPad is a portable elongated speaker designed for use with the popular tablet. It is a clip-on speaker that features a rubberized clip for easy and convenient attachment to your iPad. It comes with a 3.5mm audio cable that plugs in to the iPad’s headphone jack. The speaker comes with its own amplifier and is powered by its own rechargeable batteries that is good for 8 hours of use. They can be conveniently recharged via USB. The Logitech Tablet Speaker for the iPad is expected to come out sometime in September. But it is now available for pre-order at Logitech for US$50.
