Have you wished your TV should come with a transparent screen, then brushed it off because who would ever create such a device? Good news, because Haier has presented its 22-inch transparent organic TV, which is in its early demo stages (probably to gauge consumer and industry interest). The TV set has a slim display with a metal bezel and a clear OLED with 1,680 x 1,050 resolution at its center.
The people of Engadget has had an “eyes-on” with this prototype television. They say the images appear sharp on screen, but the colors do not–in their words–”pop.” The display was actually hooked up to a Windows PC that runs video through a media player.
Haier claims that this transparent TV will unlikely become a staple in every living rooms in the near future, but rather as an advertising tool that lets shoppers see both sides of images.
