Live Shell Lets You Stream Video to Ustream Even Without PC

Cerevo, a startup company based in Japan, introduces the “Live Shell” gadget, which makes it possible to stream live video on the web through Ustream even without a PC. The device measures 68 x 120 x 26 millimeters, weighs just 106 grams, and comes with a “Ustream Compatible” mark that certifies approval from the popular video streaming site. Live Shell connects to the web by WiFi, mobile router, or Ethernet. The device also comes with HDMI, USB, and composite interfaces. It can stream videos in real time with 704 x 528 resolution at maximum speed of 1.5Mbps.

To get users started, they need to set up an account on Cerevo’s website. Afterwhich, they only need to plug their video camera into the Live Shell and start streaming for up to three hours on three batteries (or unlimited using an included AC adapter). The broadcast can be managed in the Cerevo website by computer or smartphone.

The Live Shell is available for pre-order with an expected online retail release within the year, but only in Japan for the time being.
