PlayStation Vita To Come with Twitter App Among Others

At today’s debut of PlayStation Vita in Hong Kong, it has been revealed that the handheld console does more than playing games as it comes with a built-in Twitter app that was demonstrated for the first time. The overall design looks like Twitter’s standard UI. It has that familiar shade of blue, the usual tabs on the left, automatic expansion of timelines as it is scrolled down, as well as support for geotagging, hash tags, and photo attachments.

Apart from the Twitter app, other dedicated apps are also expected to come in the upcoming console like Skype, Foursquare, Facebook, as well as those dedicate to music and videos. The apps can be downloaded for free by the time Vita launches in Hong Kong on December 23, just a few days after the Japanese launch on the 17th. The PlayStation Vita will cost HK$2,280 (about US$290) for the WiFi-only version and HK$2,780 (US$360) for the added 3G, both come unsubsidized but cheaper than the Japanese version.
