Meet KOBOT, An Electric Car That Transforms For Parking Sake

Japan-based Kowa Tmsuk, a fresh joint venture with just five employees, has introduced its promising electric vehicle concept at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011. The KOBOT concept is a line of electric mini cars that transform themselves into much smaller vehicles at a push of a button, thus making it very handy in parking situations. What is even more awesome is that the KOBOT can also be connected to smartphones and the owners can simply press the button on their handsets.

These electric cars make itself smaller starting with the folding of chairs, contracting of the wheelbase, and the concealment of its panels.

The KOBOT is introduced in three prototypes namely Kobot v, Kobot β (pictured), and Kobot π. Each prototype has a different design, color, scheme, as well as how “compact” it can get. The Kobot β, for instance, can make its wheelbase go down by 30 centimeters; while the Kobot v can go down by 10 more centimeters.

The cars can be driven in two modes: a low-speed mode that is easy to maneuver and adaptable to places where there are a lot of pedestrians, and a drive mode that speeds up to about 30 kilometers per hour.

This is surely one of the few concept cars we like to be mass-produced.
