In a bid to niche into the cloud services market, Acer has announced its own cloud storage named AcerCloud. It will enable users of Acer devices to easily share documents and photos, although in a limited manner. The service competes with Apple’s iCloud and Eye-Fi.
However, unlike the iCloud that syncs media in the background, AcerCloud enables automatic sharing of photos and documents, but only for 30 days. After that time period, those files will be backed up permanently on the PC, not in the cloud.
Also, documents that are saved in Acercloud can be accessed from anywhere, although only for 30 days as well. Meanwhile, Acer’s clear.fi application lets users stream or download media files anywhere from the cloud. This time, clear.fi has no 30-day limited period.
AcerCloud currently supports Android-powered Acer smartphones for now, though support fo Windows Phone is in the works.
