Japan wants more Android smartphones, so companies just keep on giving new models on this very lucrative market. Mobile carrier KDDI au has announced five new Android-powered smartphones, the most eye-catching of which is the INFOBAR C01, a candy bar handset that features a super-customized UI based on Android 2.3.
This new smartphone is a more compact, lighter version of KDDI au’s INFOBAR A01 released in May last year. It features a 3.2-inch screen with 854 x 480 resolution, an 8-megapixel CMOS camera, USB slot, microSDHC port, multi-standard compatibility, as well as a slew of features expected in Japanese phones like digital TV tuner and e-wallet function. It supports infrared, Bluetooth, and WiFi connectivity.
The INFOBAR C01 will be available in Japan beginning February 2012.
