Barnes & Noble declares war on Amazon as it is about to unveil its very own e-book tablet tomorrow. The new 8GB Nook Tablet aims to go head-to-head to Kindle Fire, the popular tablet that is slowly gaining popularity due to its impressive performance despite the $199 price tag.
The Nook Tablet may have a reduced memory capacity, which remains expandable thanks to a microSD card slot, and only half the RAM of the original version, but its $199 retail price can be too tempting to consumers.
The Kindle-Nook battle also expands to the low-end e-reader category as the $79 ad-supported Kindle remains a market darling, but not without stiff competition from Nook Color, even though it is priced between $100 and $200.
