Motorola has just revealed the touchscreen handset Surf A3100, its latest addition to the A-series. This touch tablet runs Windows Mobile 6.1 software, which you can customize like other Windows Mobile devices. This is quite surprising since the Linux operating system has been running Motorola's earlier A-series phones (A760 and A780). Like the Curve 8900, It is one that you need see in the flesh to fully appreciate it. The Motorola A3100 comes with a 3.2 MP camera with autofocus, uses a Qualcomm chipset, and features a new user interface that allows you to interact with many features on its 2.8-inch display. The device also has 850/1900/2100 tri-band HSDPA 7.2Mbps 3G and quad-band GSM/EDGE. Other features include stereo Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a GPS, and support for 32GB microSD cards. Somehow, Motorola's A-series phones have short product lines, and and many expect the SURF A3100 to be the same. If the phone manages to surprise us by being reliable and fast, a low selling price might see SURF A3100 posing some competition to similar phones. No words about pricing as of this moment. News has been circulating that Motorola's touch-screen smartphone named "Atila" would be launched initially in China before it becomes available to the rest of the world. Also called Motorola A3000, the Atila is said to have been certified for use by China's telecommunications authority.What is it about Motorola Atila that makes the techies want to go crazy? For one, it contains a 528MHz processor, one of the fastest processors available. It is expected to run on Windows Mobile 6.5, featuring Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, MicroSDHC card slot, a QVGA color display, and Wi-Fi.Unlike the iPhone, the Motorola A3000 has a well-rounded shape, with a really thin body. According to Chinese documents, dimensions are said to be 110 x 60 x 13.7 millimeters, with a weight of 120 grams. Meanwhile, the QVGA screen is said to be able to support up to 16 million colors. Chinese documents further stated that the new Motorola A3000 supports all four GSM bands, as well as providing data support from GPRS and EDGE class 12th. However, it could be a clerical error because the current available OS is Windows Mobile 6.1 and that version can only support 65,000 colors. Has Moto lost its mojo? Well, not quite, but almost. Heck, no, it's not economic Armageddon for them but the news is well away from the bright light. Motorola has lost a jaw-dropping sum of $397 million in its earnings for the third quarter. Additionally, there too have been major setbacks since their plan to release handsets powered by the latest in mobile gaming platform called Android has been called off. That is, instead of 2009, another year may be added to the timeline. A year ago, within the same quarter, the phone company earned a total of $40 million. But fast-forward to the present: Motorala has announced a plan to tighten its belt on expenditures in 2009. The cut will be around $800 million. Moreover, Motorola has announced not to sell some of its manufactured handsets until after the end of the third quarter of 2009. The Motorola Motozine ZN5 is a new mobile phone that resulted from a collaboration of Motorola and Kodak. The Motozine ZN5 is the first mobile phone that combines Motorola's ModeShift Technology with Kodak's Imaging Technology. The ZN5 will try to redefine quality and convenience in mobile communications and imaging. The Motorola ZN5 is a Quad-band GSM mobile phone with EDGE support that will be released in the market sometime before the end of the year. Initial release was made in China last July of this year. The Motozine ZN5 phone's main feature is its 5 megapixel camera fixed with Kodak lens along with Xenon flash as well as a LED flash for video capturing. The camera has an autofocus feature and a shutter speed of 1/600 - 1/1000 seconds in auto mode. Taking pictures is made more convenient with Kodak technology infused into the mobile phone. The much-awaited MING A1600 and MING A1800 both feature stand-alone and touch-screen GPS for precise turn-by-turn navigation. They also feature a 2.4-inch QVGA touch-screen display, a stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), a 150MB MicroSD memory expandable up to 4GB, and smart Linux OS. MING A1600 also has 3.2MP auto focus camera with scanning and panorama capabilities. It features a stereo FM radio and a MicroUSB port. It weighs 128g and measures 98.9 x 53.5 x 19.6mm - it is definitely not as compact as other similar devices. It was rumored that MING A1600 has Wi-Fi connectivity, but it was just a rumor. MING A1800 has integrated firewall that enables you to junk SMS and screen incoming calls and 3.0MP auto focus camera. It also has powerful productivity tools such as email, business card reader, Office document reader, as well as Kingsoft translation software. Unfortunately, MING A1800 offers no Wi-Fi support. Google has introduced a preview version of its mobile OS for wearable devices. The Android Wear is being offered to app developers to create a wearable version of their existing apps, as well as customized notifications. Android Wear aims to bring contextual weather, like traffic updates, weather, and text messages, to the wearer when it is most needed without having to whip out your smartphone.
