Going out in the sun during the summer is something that many people expect to do. While it may be a fun time, there are also risks involved in staying out in the sun for too long. Aside from sunburn, there is skin cancer to worry about. That is because too much of the sun’s ultraviolet rays can cause damage to your skin. If you are not careful, it can become a serious problem later on. It would be good to have a gadget that will let you know if you have enough sun for the day. This is where the Beauty Plus Sign Skin UV Meter can be useful.

The Beauty Plus Sign Skin UV meter is a device that came out from a partnership between Japan’s Design Factory and the Japan Weather Association. The purpose of this device is to help people know whether they may be having too much time in the sun. It is also a means for people to check their skin condition after staying out in the sun. The Beauty Plus Sign measures the intensity of the sun’s ultraviolet or UV rays at a certain point of the day. Users simply hold the device directly into the light rays of the sun in order to measure the amount of UV rays. It can then take the intensity by displaying the results in varying levels, from weak to very strong.

The Beauty Plus Sign also checks the condition of the skin to see if it already lacks proper moisture from too much sun. Users only need to place the two metal contacts on their skin. The device then measures the electrical impedance between the two contacts. When the skin is dehydrated, less current passes through. The device can give results of your skin condition in five seconds. It will give you the means to know if you need to get out of the sun and prevent damaging your skin. The Beauty Plus Sign will be available in the Japanese market as well as online retailers sometime very soon. Expected pricing is set around 2,980 Japanese Yen or around US$30.
