GD Itronix GoBook VR-2

GD-Itronix GoBook VR-2 semi-rugged notebook computer mainly met elegance by embedding a state-of-the-art machine that is compact enough to be used by the mobile workforce. Reportedly designed to "meet the demanding needs of mobile workers in a variety of commercial, field service, public safety, and military (battlefield management, logistics and vehicle maintenance)," GD-Itronix has been true to its aim to target a variety of specialized markets.

With a striking industrial design, the VR-2 looks purposeful, tough, and high-tech in terms of performance both in processing power and wireless functionality. It has a 13.3-inch XGA DynaVue touch screen display, which makes this panel easy to read in the brightest sunlight, making it ideal for in-vehicle use.

The keyboard is illuminated for working in poorly lit environments. Typing is actually very comfortable, with only a handful of slightly shrunken keys. The two USB ports, the power jack, serial and VGA ports, and modem and Ethernet connections are protected from external elements by a rubber cover.

It has Intel’s 2GHz T7300 Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 120GB of hard drive space, an optional HDD heater for those chilly morns in Killington, DVD burner, PC Card slot, optional ExpressCard slot, VGA output, audio in/out, four USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/g/n, integrated fingerprint reader, optional WWAN / GPS, Bluetooth, and a three-year warranty.
